Using Apps in the Classroom, iTunes U Courses

The Apps in the Classroom series was created for teachers to help them how to incorporate apps into their classroom. Each guide has a variety of activities that cover age ranges and subjects and can be modified to work in a particular learning environment. Using apps in the classroom encourages students to think in new ways and help them take a creative approach to learning. “Skitch Lesson Ideas”, Stop Motion Studio Lesson Ideas”, and “Hopscotch Lesson Ideas” are a couple of guides in this series that caught my eye. These lesson are fun and provide a new way of learning. “Skitch Lesson Ideas” is the guide I chose to investigate in depth. There are 18 nooks in this series, check them out!

The app Skitch, found here,  allows students to be creative and share these creative ideas first-hand. With this app students can crop images, mark up documents, annotate maps, doodle all over photos, and easily share their work with other students. I could easily incorporate this app into my classroom because it will allow students to mark on documents that I have provided them online. They can document their ideas directly on a document in the portion of the text they desire. They can then pull this document up and share their ideas with easy accessibility to their information.  An example of using this app with a math class would include an activity like this one about shapes. There are able to take a real photo and edit it to match the lesson.
